Janis Mitchell

Janis Mitchell has been an ORMTA member since 1982, serving both as President and Secretary of the Branch.  She holds an A.R.C.T. in Piano Performance from the Royal Conservatory of Music, and a Bachelor of Music Degree in Music Education from the University of Toronto where she studied piano with Douglas Bodle and harpsichord with Greta Kraus.  She is a piano accompanist for instrumentalists and vocalists, and was a church pianist, organist and choir director for 13 years and continues to play for weddings and church services on an occasional basis.  She has taught privately for 38 years preparing students for auditions, festivals, entrance into post-secondary music programs and Royal Conservatory exams. Many of Janis’ former students have pursued careers in music.
