Sheila Vandikas has been teaching for 26 years. She received her ARCT in Piano Performance from the Royal Conservatory of Music, and a Bachelor of Music Degree in Piano Performance from the University of Toronto. She has studied with Patricia Parr, Irina Kugucheva, Solon Reyes, and Ruth Nieboer. She has done masterclasses with Gordon Hallett, and John Coveart. She studied her theoretical subjects with several teachers, including Joe Ringhofer, Bill Andrews, Molly Sclater, Alexander Rappoport, Larysa Kuzmenko, and Walter Buczynski. As a student, she was the recipient of several awards and scholarships.
She worked as a music teacher, course liaison, and national consultant for Yamaha Corporate Music School, the education division of Yamaha Canada Music Ltd. She has also worked as a pianist and accompanist for various musicians and several musical events and groups, including the Tapestry Chamber Choir. She is an active member of the Ontario Registered Music Teacher's Association, and an associate member of the Association of Canadian Women Composers.
Sheila's other interests include running, cycling, and training in the martial arts-specifically Goju karate. Sheila currently resides in Newmarket, with her husband George, and their four children.
